Mijas is a municipality on the Costa del Sol, with around 80,000 permanent residents. Many of them are Spaniards, but this place is also very popular among other Europeans. Indeed, Mijas has a lot to offer. Like every other place on the Costa del Sol, Mijas has it's beautiful beaches, sandy beaches to be exact, and of no less than 12 kilometers long! These beaches are located in Mijas Costa and are spread over the coastal towns of La Cala, Rievera and Calahona. Here you can enjoy restaurants, cafes and bars. There are also shops in Mijas Costa, but the actual centre can be found in Mijas Pueblo.

Mijas Pueblo is the high, somewhat older, part of Mijas. In this area you can get lost in the charming narrow streets with white houses. In our opinion, it is one of the most beautiful white villages of Andalucia, which is why Mijas is also called "El Pueblo Blanco". So in Mijas Pueblo you also have the centre, the old centre of course. There are plenty of terraces and shops here, but still with the typical Spanish culture. The architecture is also very beautiful and the buildings show all the influences of the Romans, Moors and Spaniards. You can also visit Sierra de Mijas, a hilly nature reserve, great for walking and cycling.

The climate in Mijas is milder than in other areas of Andalusia. The average temperature is 18 ºC throughout the year, summers are not extremely hot, and winters are not very cold. Very favourable to relax properly. There are also a number of larger and warmer towns within pleasant distance such as Fuengirola, Carihuela, Málaga, Torremolinos, and Benalmádena. The public transport in Mijas is very well organized and the (highway) roads are easy to drive. Finally, the Picasso airport can also be reached by highway.
